about

Sometimes you do really shitty things when you're drunk. I suppose that happens even if you don't drink, but drinking definitely creates opportunities that would not otherwise be there in the doing shitty things department. I think it's because sometimes when you're deep into a night of heavy drinking, the idea that you're going to wake up tomorrow and everything is going to be pretty much the same as when you woke up today is so foreign. Drinking, especially in good company, makes it feel like the world could be ending that night and it wouldn't matter. The trick is, I think, to remember and not sugarcoat the shitty things you do so you can remember how terrible it made you (or someone else) feel and hold on to that so you don't do it again.

The title is in memorial of a rather unique dive bar / arcade / pool hall / i think they had lazer tag too that used to be in Somerville. I heard it's an Ikea now.

lyrics

There's lipstick on my cigarette
As she falls from her faded dress
Her skin becomes a dimpled sea
As she's splitting at the seam.

There are far too many mouths
Be careful what you don't let out.

The whiskey pushes in my veins,
As faces blur, intentions change
These boards are cracked and weathered thin,
Worms curl from your mouth and under my skin.
The sidewalk breaks and rises up
I saw the glove and felt the touch.

We woke beneath a sun starved sky
The drifts of ash were twice as high
and cold the cry, as hawks descend,
the world begins to break and bend.

Phrases carved in silhouette plea the dammed not to forget.
